Mary Margaret was the recipient of two prestigious awards for her performance on the Master of Wine exams, earning both the Bollinger Medal for outstanding tasting ability and the Overall Achievement Award for being the top student in her graduating class. To read firsthand about her journey to become a Master of Wine, read her recollections, published here.

In addition to being a Master of Wine, Mary Margaret has extensive experience in wine sales and education, as well as marketing, writing, and developing wine-related curriculum for both professionals and consumers. In 2024, she established Chasing Burgundy, an education platform that seeks to help wine enthusiasts and students enhance their knowledge on Burgundy. It includes a virtual class component in addition to a subscription publication, Chasing Burgundy: One the Page, where Mary Margaret reflects on nearly two decades of time traveling to and selling the wines of Burgundy through monthly articles.

Coupled with Mary Margaret’s passion for education is a firm belief in equity within the wine industry. In 2020, along with Martin R. Reyes MW and DLynn Proctor, Mary Margaret co-founded Wine Unify, a nonprofit organization that both champions and promotes diversity in the wine industry through mentorship, access to education, and funding for education for underrepresented minorities interested in or working in wine.

When not selling, teaching, or talking about wine, you can find Mary Margaret drinking it. Her glass is usually filled with Burgundy or Champagne. For more information about Mary Margaret and her professional experience, click here.
