Mary Margaret is one of 53 Masters of Wine residing in the United States. She became a Master of Wine in 2016, and is based in Napa Valley, California.
Mary Margaret was the recipient of two prestigious awards for her performance on the Master of Wine exams, earning both the Bollinger Medal for outstanding tasting ability and the Overall Achievement Award for being the top student in her graduating class. In addition to being a Master of Wine, Mary Margaret has extensive experience in wine sales and education, as well as marketing, writing, and developing wine-related curriculum for both professionals and consumers. She is deeply invested in fostering education among aspiring wine students and has established the George T. Gamblin Memorial Scholarship in honor of her late father. This annual scholarship encourages creative thinking among Master of Wine students.
Coupled with Mary Margaret’s passion for education is a firm belief in equity within the wine industry. In 2020, along with Martin R. Reyes MW and DLynn Proctor, Mary Margaret co-founded Wine Unify, a nonprofit organization that both champions and promotes diversity in the wine industry through mentorship, access to education, and funding for education for underrepresented minorities interested in or working in wine.
